Brides-les-Bains, France

Gateway To The 3-Valleys - The Largest Ski Area In The World

The delightful spa town has great links to the slopes Brides les Bains can best be described as "The Gateway to the World's Largest Ski Area" with 600km of varied pistes ranging from 37 blacks, 115 reds, 120 blue runs and 56 green slopes for raw beginners and children. With 200 ski lifts, the area includes the valleys of Meribel (Brides les Bains and Meribel), Saint-Bon (Courcheval, La Tania), Belleville (Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Les Menuires, Val Thorens), and the resort of Orelle. For the 2007-08 winter season skiers can enjoy a "hands-Free" pass so the need to "search" for your lift ticket is a thing of the past! The digital card offers a kick-start access to "les 3 Vallees" ski area and the need to slow down at control points has gone (well almost!).

The "3 Vallees Region" of France is a superb skiing area (600m - 3000m)catering for all grades of enthusiast. But many people from the UK do not realise it is not necessary to stay at one of the upper mountain resorts to enjoy a good winter holiday! Brides-les-Bains is an ideal base from where you can explore all 3 valleys and the village is "worlds away" from the hustle and bustle of the high-mountain resorts and far more affordable - usually 30 per cent cheaper - but you do not compromise on quality and the Olympe gondola lift from Brides to the heart of the "3 Valleys" slopes.

By staying at the valley resort of Brides-les-Bains you can enjoy the advantages of the spa resort and apres ski life coupled with the superb - and fast - gondola link into the heart of the 3-vallees region at Meribel with 7-nights in a 2-star studio apartment with a 6-day ski pass for the entire skiing region (and gondola link) from around euro 250,-

Amazing prices and amazing skiing - but if the idea of a studio apartment does not appeal to you, there is the choice of staying in a 2-star hotel with exercise room, jacuzzi and half board for around euro 380,- per person in Brides-les-Bains.

The resort could not be more conveniently located. It is just 6-km further on that Moutiers which in turn is just 190-km from Lyon. The car journey from Calais will take approximately nine hours.

Alternatively, you can fly to Chambery/Aix airport which is just 80km distance or into Geneva (120-km or 2-hours). There is the third option of arriving by rail at Moutiers and then a busy journey of just 6-km distance. The TGV high speed train connects with Paris or London.

An added advantage of staying down in the valley at Brides-les-Bains is you are away from the "maddening crowd" - and you can still enjoy a wide variety of night life, restaurants and bars as the resort is really "switched-on" when it comes to catering from visitors. The resort of Brides-les-Bains has 3,500 beds.

A further advantage is that Brides-les-Bains has a range of treatments dedicated to "well-being". So after a hard day on the slopes, relax at the Spa and enjoy one of the many treatments.

There is little to be added to the knowledge most people have of the 3-Vallees skiing area. It is huge and fantastic. But just in case there are readers who have never skied here before, the ski area is made up of the valleys of Saint-Ban (Courcheval-LaTania), les Allues (Meribel-Brides-les-Bains) and les Belleville (Saint Martin, Les Menuires and Val Thorens) and combined represent an area of more than 600km of runs. It is the only domain in the world to offer so many kms of maintained runs with "linked" ski areas. An added advantage of staying at Brides-les-Bains is the opportunity to ski back to the village, a vertical drop of some 2000m and two hours of downhill skiing along a unique off-piste route. Some tour operators have some very cheap ski deals to this area.

Special Offer: We have teamed up with PV Holidays, leading supplier of French Skiing accommodation to offer a Christmas offer of one night free with every booking.
