You enter the Brandnertal after leaving the Arlberg Pass and arrive at the typically attractive Austrian resort of Brand after a 30-minute journey. Coming by car, you may require snow chains but must certainly carry them in the car.
Brand is one of those fantastic "hidden" ski villages just waiting to be discovered. The locals offer visitors a warm welcome but do try and keep the resort a secret! So the resort is never crowded and therefore there is little or no queuing for lifts.
The resort offers 53km of downhill pistes comprising 27 blue runs, 23 red and 3 black pistes. So something for everyone as there are 26 separate downhill runs from the top at 2000m down to the village at 904m
The slopes are served by 13 gondolas and other lifts and there is no shortage of somewhere to enjoy a meal or a warm drink once you are out on the slopes as there are 6 mountain restaurants.
Thursdays could be described as "favouring "Ladies Day"! as the lift company offer half price tickets for ladies on this day each week! However, so as not to leave out the youngsters, the Brandnertal mountain railway company offers children up to the age of 8 years (born in l998) a special deal. For every parent purchasing a ski pass the second and other children ride free.
The wide expanse of the upper ski slopes is reached by the Tschengla, Niggenkopf and Palud chairlifts.
