With a motto of "continuing to innovate and improve", the resort of Val Cenis has added a 60-erson detachable chair "Arcelle" for the coming season as well as providing 2km more of artificial snow cover for the Pre Novel area and better parking facilities opposite the Vieux Moulin gondola lift. And planned for a year's time will be an extension of the Val cenis/Termignon ski area by the creation of a further 35km of pistes.
Two villages go to make up the resort of Val Cenis - they are Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard and both offer a good range of skiing opportunities with the highest lift rising to 2,800m.
They say there are ten good reasons to come to the picturesque area of Val Cenis. These include the charm of an authentic village; snow conditions which last from early December until late April, and top quality accommodation and service.
Val Cenis is located 230km from Lyon in the Maurienne Valleyand just 23km from Modane off the RN6 motorway which leads to the Frejus Tunnel. The two villages which make up Val Cenius (Lanslevillard) and Val Cenis (Lanslebourg)are located at an altitude range of 1450m and 2800m. Two for the price of one!
Surrounded by beautiful alpine scenery, the skiing area extends from the valley at 1400m up to 2800m. Since 2000 Val Cenis has provided one new lift per yard! and the installation in 2006 of the 10-person gondola (Val Cenis le Haut) together with the 4-seater chair (Pre Novel) the slopes have really been opened up. The coming 2007-08 season sees the opening of the new "Arcelle" 6-seater detachable chair.
The resort now provides a total of 19 lifts which includes 2 gondola lifts serving 39 pistes of which 10 are blue, 17 red and 5 are black. There are 10 chair lifts and 7 single drag lifts and beginners slopes around the two villages. There are lots of red and challenging black runs for the advanced skier with 1400m of vertical descent and a blue run from the top of the mountain down to the resort.
