The Wilder Kaiser region comprises of Soll
, Ellmau, Going and Sheffau.
The Wilder Kaiser "circus" is one of the largest linked ski regions in Austria and the villages enjoy good snow cover throughout the season from mid-December through to the end of March.
The villages have charm and character and the advantage of being away from the hustle and bustle of its' larger enighbours but close enough for guests to enjoy apres ski life and then return to the quietness of whichever of the four villages they are staying at.
There are nine villages on both sides of the Ski Welt mountain range - Soll, Ellmau, Scheffau and Going in the Wilder Kaiser area followed by Brixen, Kelshau, Itter, Westendorf and Hopfgarten on the other side of the mountain range. Whilst each village has its own distinctive character, there is no problem in skiing from one to the other by using the 94 lifts which include a mountain railway, 11 cable cars, 38 chairlifts and 44 drag and beginners lifts.
ELLMAU: This is probably the main village in the valley and certainly the centre of activity with a good range of hotels, shops, banks, chemist, and restaurants, all to a very high standard. The village height ranges from 820m to 2344m and for skiers opens up 250km of pistes and 250 runs. There is the funicular just outside the village which is just one of the 94 lifts in the valley.
In the winter Ellmau is very convenient for skiers and snowboarders, due to its ski-runs, which lead directly to the village centre. Apart from these favorable circumstances, Ellmau is well-known for its hospitality. For many years our “Peter” has been contributing to improve guest service by treating it as a matter of personal concern. The results of his daily efforts are many regular guests coming every year to our beautiful place.
The fact that Ellmau also is a hotspot for VIP´s doesn´t mean, that Ellmau’s inhabitants behave snobbish. On the contrary, we insist on being a warm-hearted and merry folk. Go and see for yourself! email@example.com
GOING provides well-groomed slopes and above all that important Austrian ingredient - Gemutlichkeit - which roughly translated means "the experience was so good you will want to go back for more". Certainly there is so much skiing in the Ski Welt region that when you get back to the village of Going, you will question whether you have skied all the runs! Probably not if you only go for a week!
SCHEFFAU: A smaller and quieter village but no less accessible into the total skiing area of 250 different runs. There is an excellent gondola station right alongside the main road with more than adequate car parking. However, many "day-skiers" are attracted to this point because of its convenient location. The village height is 752m rising to 2344m. firstname.lastname@example.org
First documented as „Skefenouwen“ in 1158, the name was then altered to „Schiefe Au“ , which is the derivation of the present day ScheffauWith 250km of runs the Ski Welt region sets itself apart from the distinctive nearby Kitzbuhel Alps and Wilder Kaiser mountains. It has its own peaks such as the Hohe Salve (1829m), Fielding (1892m) as well as Eiberg, Hartkaiser, Astberg and Alpenrose, where you will find easy and difficult runs so there is plenty to suit all levels of enthusiast.
For skiers who like stopping and enjoying the beauty of the mountains, or having choice for lunch or a quick snack, the Ski Welt region boasts around 70 alpine ski huts. That is an average of one every 3.57km!
There are horse-drawn sleigh rides through the deep snow which lines the valley. There are fondu evenings and plenty of places for dancing and meeting friends. Certainly so much variety it will prove to be a memorable holiday.
