The 4-Valleys region of this part of Switzerland links Nendaz with Verbier, Siviez, Mayens de Riddes, Veysonnaz and Les Collons and offers a vast amount of skiing. There are 410km of marked pistes in the whole area with 91 runs and something for everyone in terms of pistes.
If you are staying in the town of Nendaz, the main departure point for your skiing with be Haute-Nendaz (1365m) with a gondola ride to Tracouet (2200m) followed by a cable car journey to Plan du Fou (2430m). Alternatively, you could start from Veysonnaz (1400m) and then link across via gondola and chair lifts to Greppon Blanc (2700m) or Tortin (2044m) and then on to Mont Gele (3033m), which in turn offers ski runs back down to the resort of Verbier (1500m).
Nendaz is therefore an ideal base from which to explore and ski this 4-Valley region and the town has a good selection of shops and 30 restaurants, 5 mountain restaurants, 10 bars and a couple of 4 disco/nightclubs.
There is glacier skiing, as well as skating and curling, torchlight skiing, helicopter skiing, sledging and indoor squash, to ensure you have a full, fun-packed day.
The car journey is just less than 530 miles so allow 9/10 hours of motorway driving from Calais via Reims, Dijon, Macon, and Geneva and then follow the lake of Geneva to the Valais region and Nendaz.
