If small is beautiful and its a family resort you are looking for, then Drouzin le Mont is certainly for you. This is where children can learn to ski in complete safety on slopes facing their resort accommodation so mums and dads can watch from the window!
The ski resort of Drouzin le Mont straddles the Aulps and Abondance valleys close to the Portes du Soleil famous ski region and is situated at an altitude of 1230m - 1650m and enjoys good snow cover from December to April.
The resort has 15 slopes served by 2 chairlifts, 4 draglifts and 2 snow-wires but an advantage is the location - within a "stone's throw" drive of the main Portes du Soleil vast skiing area. So you can enjoy the charm, ambiance and "rustic character" of an original French village but at the same time have access to one of the world's best-known skiing areas.
You can fly to Geneva and transfer within the hour. Alternatively you could rive from Calais in 9/10 hours on excellent motorways and although snow chains should be carried, it is unlikely they will be requied to access the resort. There is a third transport alternative, Eurostar to Paris and then TGV to Geneva which is a high-speed rail possibility!
Drouzin le Mont is an ideal ski village for mums and dads taking their youngsters on a "first-ever" skiing holiday. If either mum or dad is a capable skier, the resort has 7 red and 1 black pistes but is within easy striking distance to Montrion, St. Jean d'Aulps or the remainder of the vast Portes du Soleil.
