The Winter season 2008/09 starts in November with skiing on the Glacier with the main winter season starting mid December.
The Flims Laax Falera ski resort is much closer than you think. Just 150 minutes away from Milan, 90 minutes from Zurich and 20 minutes from Chur, awaits one of Europes most snow-sure regions. It is hard to believe that so much snow, sun and an intact environment can be found just 10 minutes away from the nearest motorway exit. For the British skiing enthusiast, Flims-Laax is easy to reach and no more than a 10/11 hour car journey from Calais on excellent motorway routes.
One glance at the 220 kilometres of well tended slopes to suit every skier and boarder. Each day 70 per cent of the slopes are freshly prepared. There are 91 restaurants and 3 disco/clubs and 19 apres-ski bars is enough to see that LAAX always has something to offer. There is plenty of room for everyone, for families or singles snowboarders or skiers, winter hikers or freeriders, at altitudes ranging from 1,100 and 3,018 meters above sea level.
Mountain Restaurants Winter sports can make you hungry. Thankfully, there are plenty of opportunities in the entire ski area to get the meal that you are looking for. If you just want to satisfy your hunger fast and inexpensively, or if you prefer to take time out to have a quiet, relaxed meal the right restaurant will be just around the corner. Even first-class gourmet expectations can be fulfilled on and near the slopes. There are 50 hotels from which you can select the type of accommodation you want.
Certain delicacies have already become classic. Be it the Gipfelraclette melted-cheese dish in the Edelweiss, the "Snowburger on the Crap Sogn Gion or the wood-fired specialities in the Alpenrose. New delicious delights are created every season. Just think of the newly interpreted regional specialities from the Canton Grisons in the Capalari. The newest addition to our culinary attractions is the Steakhouse "LaVacca" in the Tipi next to the Plaun station. Naturally, you can still get the popular air-dried specialities there, also known as Alpine-Fastfood. The diversity of our guests can also be seen off the slopes; there are numerous sorts of mountain restaurants and a variety of nightlife activities. A gourmet will feel just as comfortable as the laid-back romantic type or a party-keen snowboard ace. There are 35 bars and cluds and 73 restaurants. Visitors can relaxing and unwind in 8 wellness and 5 fitness centres in the resort.
The Laax winter season gets under way in December and extends through to the end of March. However, the spring season then begins with opportunities for sport on the higher glacier slopes where there are two lifts. Of the 27 lifts the resort provides, there are 8 chairlifts, 7 gondolas and 4 aerial tramways as well as a variety of other ski lifts.
