Good Tyres Are Essential

October 2007

In addition to be few simple precautions and rules, a good set of tyres is essentail for your journey to the Alps. Even when motorways and resort access roads are clear, getting around can prove "interesting" after a sudden fall of snow.

In alpine regions it takes more than a few "flakes of snow" to brings things to a halt - as happens back in the UK - but if you have the right tyres on your vehicle these will not only get you around your ski resort and out for the journey home, the tyres will probably prove very useful back home in the UK during the winter months.

A leading manufacturer of winter tyres is the Dutch company - Vredestein - whose Snowtrac2, Wintrac Xtreme and Wintrac4Xtreme tyres all obtained top scores when tested by leading German motoring magazines. During the tests in "real-life" wintry conditions, the results prompted AutoBild and ADAC Motorwelt magazines to award the Vredestein Snowtrac 2 with "Excellent" and "Recommended" respectively! Both AutoBild and Sport Auto magazines recommended the Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme.

A spokes-person for Vredestein (UK) says the Company has expanded the range of its products with a large number of new sizes suitable for most vehicles. "Cold weather tyres are becoming increasingly popular in the UK. In mainland Europe it is mandatory to use these tyres in wintry conditions!

The Snowtrac2 has recently come 1st in a test by the German magazine "AUTOZEITUNG" and we are about to produce some popular sizes of the first ever Winter tyres available in "runflat" version."

Details of all this can be found on the Vredestein website

The Editor has been driving on Vredestein tyres for many years and swears by them. "Whether it's snow and ice in the mountains, rain or slush on the motorways, I drive with complete confidence," says Editor Paul Youden.
