June has seen snowfall over the mountains as unusually cold weather has swept down from the north. However, skiers will be heading to the glacier regions of Europe seeking not only skiing but also sunshine. Both are on offer in abundance this year with "bucket loads of snow" and warming spring sunshine, just ideal weather for sun-tanning! But do be warned the high alpine sun can quickly burn so ensure you cover yourself with plenty of sun cream if you are going to strip-off (in the nicest possible way of course!)
Our spring and autumn skiing article identifies in detail the glacier resorts which include those in the Austrian Tirol including Kaunertal, Pitztal, Solden, Stubai and Hintertux along with the Kitzsteinhorn at Kaprun; together with Saas Fee and Zermatt in Switzerland.
Spring, summer and autumn skiing is "another world" where you can ski from early morning until lunchtime and then enjoy a second sport such as tennis or golf in the afternoon.
Many winter sports enthusiasts now make a summer skiing holiday as a "must", enabling other members of the family to enjoy the Alps without necessarily having to ski!
